TOMBSTONE ? This weekend, the second annual Tombstone Wild West Paracon (https://www.myheraldreview.com/news/tombstone/tombstones-paranormal-event-earns-enthusiastic-reviews/article_99d1a2f8-edd0-11ed-b53b-afae970e443e.html) will showcase all kinds of paranormal phenomena in the city. Combining western history and paranormal investigations, the convention runs Friday through Sunday and will feature ghost hunts along with talks and workshops on the supernatural.
City of Tombstone (https://cityoftombstoneaz.gov/) marketing manager and founding member of the convention Bruce Burnett explained what people can expect at the convention. Last year, hundreds of tickets were sold to the first annual Tombstone Paracon, and similarly large turnouts are expected this year.
To Burnett, the unique history of Tombstone, a town he likes to call ?Ghost Town USA? makes it an ideal place for this type of event.
?We were almost a ghost town,? he said. ?...You look at Charleston or any of the ones on Ghost Town Trail and all that. There used to be towns there but they're all gone and Tombstone was going to be like that. I mean when the silver ran out, what were you going to do in Tombstone??
Tombstone, kept relevant by events like the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral didn't become a ghost town, but it did become a place where many people report experiencing paranormal phenomena.
?The gunfight at the O.K.Corral was the big thing,? Burnett continued. ?It's the big thing that everyone still talks about. Well, according to paranormal people that leads to hauntings.?
Into this scene comes the Tombstone Wild West Paracon, where paranormal investigators search for spirits haunting the city. Lectures will shed light on topics on Ouija boards, ghost-hunting, and becoming a spiritual medium.
Special guests and speakers include UK-based Ghost Trip Investigation, LTD (https://thegtistore.com/) duo Adam Oakley and Dan Spragg, Netflix series 28 Days Haunted host Adam Sagers (https://tombstoneparacon.com/aaron-sagers/), paranormal investigator feature (https://www.google.com/search?q=28+days+haunted&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS1074US1074&oq=28+days+haunte&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqDQgAEAAY4wIYsQMYgAQyDQgAEAAY4w IYsQMYgAQyCggBEC4YsQMYgAQyBwgCEAAYgAQyBggDEEUYOTIH CAQQABiABDIHCAUQABiABDIHCAYQABiABDIHCAcQABiABDIHCA gQABiABDIHCAkQABiABNIBCDMwMzZqMGo0qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8)d on Netflix and The Discovery Channel, Shane Pittman (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm8000123/); and paranormal author Greg Lawson, M.Ed. (https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B00891GVRI/about)
Other speakers include author and television personality Richard Estep (https://www.richardestep.net/), ghost hunter and Kindred Spirits co-host Amy Bruni (https://tombstoneparacon.com/amy-bruni/https://www.amy-bruni.net/), intuitive medium Jessica Potter (https://tombstoneparacon.com/jessica-potter/), ouija expert, counselor, and spirit communicator Karen A. Dahlman, MA (https://www.amazon.com/stores/Karen-A.-Dahlman/author/B00A6HSVP8?ref=ap_rdr&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true), and Hollywood stuntman and ghost hunter Rick McCallum. (https://tombstoneparacon.com/rick-mccallum/)
Also at the convention will be creator and producer of Entity Voices Paranormal Evidence podcast Tony Rathman (https://tombstoneparacon.com/tony-rathman/), author, historian, and Phoenix Lights and rock art expert Jeff Woolwine (https://tombstoneparacon.com/jeff-woolwine/), and David ?Hero? Aberle (https://tombstoneparacon.com/david-aberle/), a medicine person, exorcist, and co-lead investigator for the Native American Paranormal group, Unearthing the Supernatural.
Aberle and his team will perform a blessing on Allen Street for the area's businesses, convention attendees, and spirits.
Twelve locations rumored to be haunted will be investigated, including spots like the O.K. Corral, Boothill Cemetery, and Schieffelin Hall.
Various ticket options are for sale, ranging from VIP packages to a donation only option, where people are free to contribute anywhere from $1 to $10,000 towards repairs for the Allen Street City Cemetery (https://www.google.com/search?q=Allen+Street+Cemetery&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS1074US1074&oq=Allen+Street+Cemetery&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIGCAEQRRg8MgYIAhBFGD 3SAQczMjFqMGo0qAIAsAIB&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8).
?The cemetery that we're currently using, that we're still putting people in, it's got a really old section that is pretty dilapidated looking,? said Burnett. ?I mean, it's been there since 1884. It's just rough. And I mean, there's no row markers, there's all kinds of stuff that's missing there.?
The cemetery has been surveyed to aid the city in figuring out where various graves are in the cemetery, and funds from the convention will be used towards cemetery repairs.
